My skin is dry. It happened seemingly overnight the year I turned 35. All of a sudden, I went from a face as oily as your average pizza to a face as dry as the Sahara Desert.
I switched things up to compensate, changing my cleanser to Pond's because it was so moisturizing and stocking up on lotions and oils. I found that exfoliating is key to great skin, as is steaming. I took to (believe it or not), using my steamer meant for clothes on my face. I just put the rod of the steamer as low as it goes, turn it on and then put my dry face a good 10 inches or so above it, with a towel over my head. Works brilliantly (just be careful not to burn yourself, I don't wanna be sued).
I read recently in Harper's Bazaar that it's common for some French women to use oils on the face. Dewy skin is always youthful and there's nothing quite like an oil or a serum to produce that shiny, glowy skin. Right now I'm into using a wet washcloth soaked in extra virgin coconut oil. I massage my face with the washcloth in a circular motion. I love how it gets rid of the dead skin while moisturizing at the same time. France's first lady, Carla Bruni, apparently swears by Caudalie's Beauty Elixir (pictured here, about $46 online). She loves it so much she reportedly called the company's founder to rave about it.
